Build Strong Muscles
You may notice your child is unable to sit still for even a few minutes, become tired of walking quickly, or struggle to hold items. This is because between the ages of 2-3 they have very low muscle tone in their bodies.
We help your child develop strong muscles that make the everyday skill set easier and more enjoyable, both for you and them!
Following directions & mental processing
Do you struggle with your child following directions you give them? Consider that your child only has between 2-3 years of English vocabulary learned. They often only grasp bits and pieces of the message you’re trying to tell them and may not understand the full message.
We work with your child intellectually by improving their ability to process both verbal and body language cues to follow directions.
Bravery & Confidence
It’s common for 2 and 3-year-olds to be fearful. Fearful of new environments, fearful of change, fearful of imaginary things. Your child will be exposed to new, safe surroundings where they can explore, play, and learn. You’ll see their confidence rise with each new class.
Improve Social Skills
At this age, children will often mock one another to try and be a part of the group. They often will use physical touch in an attempt to communicate, rather than verbal communication, as they aren’t as confident trying to use words to express themselves.
We’ll help teach your child what’s appropriate in a social setting vs what isn’t.
Improved technique
We really begin focusing on proper martial arts & exercise techniques at this stage in your child's journey. Your child may struggle with fine motor skills such as writing, finger placement, knee placement, or foot shaping at this age, We work on developing healthy habits that lead to proper technique and use.
Recall of information & confidence
At this age your child most likely recalls information easily when there is no pressure; however, when you add stress or anxiety, they can often forget this same information. It’s very common and completely normal, we work with your child on managing their nerves and building their confidence so that they can recall information even when it’s a challenge.
Boosting Self Esteem
At this age, children begin developing fears. Fears of pain or failure. Your child is unwilling to try new things or take on new challenges unless you encourage them to do so. We’ll show your child what they’re truly capable of by improving their self-esteem and confidence in everything that they do.
Team Building & Healthy Competition
It’s easy at this age for children to expect fair play and easily point out when someone chooses to break the rules. We’ll focus on team-based games that encourage leadership, fair play, and working together. We’ll also practice cheering for others and encouragement.
Increased Motivation
You may notice as your child becomes a teen that they also become fatigued by seemingly everything. Suddenly taking out the trash is the most exhausting task for your teen. This is because the rate at which their bodies and minds are developing is rapid, and truly sapping away at their energy supply as a result. We use forms of intrinsic and extrinsic motivation to keep your pre-teen or teen engaged and excited about health and fitness.
Goal Setting & Decision Making
Your child is learning massive amounts of information at this point in their life. Like little sponges absorbing water, every day they absorb everything from algebra, social media, social cues, the environment cues and so much more. Your child has become an expert at recalling information and now it’s time to develop their critical thinking skills. We work with your child on goal-setting & decision-making skills in class each day.
Confidence & Self Esteem
You may notice your child developing fear out of craving social acceptance at this stage of their life. They become fearful of things such as what to wear, how to walk, talk and so much more. We focus on encouraging your child to try new things, perform, and compete in front of others to develop their confidence & self-esteem.
Improved communication
You may notice your child struggles to speak with people they don’t know yet or is too shy to speak in front of groups. We encourage our students to help demonstrate, lead instruction in small groups, perform, volunteer, and so much more so they can continue to practice their communication skills each day.
Empower your Teen
As your child enters their teenage years, you may start to notice them becoming fatigued more easily. Things that used to be easy, like taking out the trash, now seem like monumental tasks. This is because their bodies and minds are developing at a rapid pace, which can be truly exhausting. At our facility, we use forms of intrinsic and extrinsic motivation to keep your pre-teen or teen engaged and excited about health and fitness.
Self-discipline & character development
Your child is like a sponge at this age, absorbing an immense amount of information every day. They take in algebra, social media, social cues, and environmental cues, among other things. So far, they have been excellent at recalling this information. However, it is now time to help them develop their critical thinking skills. In class each day, we work with your child on goal-setting and decision-making skills.
Self-esteem, confidence & focus
Around this stage in life, you might see your child become afraid of things as they start to crave social acceptance more. This can manifest itself in fears about things like what to wear or how to walk and talk. We focus on encouraging your child to try new things, perform, and compete in front of others to develop their confidence & self-esteem.
Learn effective communication
Parents may notice their child seems to have trouble communicating with people they don't know well or are too shy to speak in front of groups.
That's why we encourage our students to get involved in things like leading small groups, giving demonstrations, and volunteering for performances. There are lots of opportunities for our students to practice speaking every day.
We take Martial Arts training to a whole new level:
We use elements of traditional Martial Arts curriculum to build skills that are appropriate for children on the spectrum. This means that your child will learn and grow at a pace that is fun while being challenged enough to help foster development.
The best part is that the Spectrum SKILLZ program will equip your child with skills that they will utilize in every area of their life!
Your child will grow with every class!
Our Spectrum SKILLZ program works with kids to teach them how to accept responsibility for their actions, to manage negative emotions, and to pay attention to instructions and advice from their instructors.
Our program teaches kids Awareness, Communication, Retention, and Determination in a way that allows them to build confidence. These skills translate from our martial arts studio school- and to your home.
Build fine motor skillz & improve focus:
Older kids have better control than young ones, but they still may struggle with precision and accuracy.
The Spectrum SKILLZ program builds on earlier martial arts training to help kids gain control of their bodies and build strength while improving their balance.
Kids are easily distracted and may have difficult focusing on tasks and situations. We teach kids to tune out distractions and focus on one thing at a time – something that’s increasingly challenging in today’s electronic world.
Persistence & Determination
Kids develop persistence ad the determination to see their goals through to the end.
When they’re learning a new skill, kids may be afraid or give up easily instead of risking failure.
Spectrum SKILLZ students learn to conquer their fears and persist even when they feel like giving up on a particular challenge or assignment.
Finding the time and energy to exercise can be difficult
Even when you do find time to hit the gym, regardless of having a schedule that’s full of work, family time, and other obligations, you might be bored by your same old workout. There’s nothing exciting about another go-round on the treadmill or elliptical – and you might need some encouragement to stick to a schedule and achieve your fitness goals.
Martial arts classes for adults focus on building core strength and cardiovascular fitness in a fun, social setting. Why not break out of your dull routine?
Learn how to stand up for yourself
Many people feel vulnerable and wish they could defend themselves in dangerous situations. Our martial arts classes build strength, confidence, and agility while teaching effective self-defense techniques.
In our adult classes, you'll develop core strength, increase flexibility, and learn how to protect yourself and your loved ones. Plus, it’s a great way to meet new people and achieve your fitness goals!
Feel great about yourself
It’s common for adults to struggle with self-esteem as they deal with competitive work environments and overloaded to-do lists.
Adults who study martial arts learn to search within themselves for their best qualities. They learn to self-motivate and not to worry what others think of them.
Martial arts instruction encourages students to feel good about themselves as they master new techniques.
Challenging, calorie-burning workouts
One of the keys to losing weight is finding a workout that you genuinely like doing.
Martial arts workouts are fun and challenging. They burn calories while also building muscles and ramping up your metabolism.
Regular martial arts workouts can help you lose weight steadily, especially when combined with a healthy diet.
Regular exercise helps alleviate anxiety
All people need an outlet for their worry and anxiety – and martial arts classes provide it.
In the absence of such an outlet, you might carry anxiety inside of you and inadvertently take it out on other people.
Martial arts classes burn calories, release tension and anxiety, and help keep you on an even keel mentally and emotionally.
